Hello Austin,

Standing in the back of Puerto Rico, a 31′ Bertram trolling above the Zane Gray Reef, Pat Ford took a photograph at the same time my 14 year old son, “Hep” Hepburn, took a picture of a leaping Marlin. The date was December 11, 2009. Pat had been helping my son with photography, and Pat’s photograph was far superior. If you subscribe to Marlin Magazine, you will recognize the May 2010 cover photograph.

Pat and Hep took a number of outstanding photos that trip, due to the fabulous fishing we experienced. Nowhere is the Marlin fishing so exciting as on the Zane Gray Reef, and nowhere is the hospitality better than Tropic Star Lodge. I should add that I can’t imagine a more child friendly environment than TSL. My 10 year old daughter, Annie, and Hep each caught their first Pacific Sailfish at TSL and were presented a certificate to that effect at the awards ceremony our last night in Pinas Bay.

Being at the right place at the right time applies to Marlin Fishing as much as any other pursuit.
