Black Marlin double for father and son: TSL Kid’s Club

Josh and Phil Golden each caught a Black Marlin last week at Tropic Star Lodge in Panama. Josh caught a Yellow Fin tuna that weighed in at more than he does and he also caught a very nice Cubera Snapper. Kid’s Club at TSL enables every paying adult to bring a child under 18 years to fish for free. This can be a great bonding experience! Josh is only 15 years old, yet he has caught Black Marlin, Pacific Sailfish and a host of other species while fishing Central America with his father. Good experiences together help build strong family relationships.

Terri Andrews, owner of Tropic Star Lodge understands the importance of introducing children to fishing in a safe and exciting environment. Every child who releases their first Pacific billfish species at Tropic Star Lodge receives a certificate honoring their achievement. Congratulations, Josh. My children all want to fish with you!

And don’t forget to bring your cameras. One of the most exciting aspects of traveling and fishing is taking pictures. With the digital technology available today, high quality photographs are easy and fun to take. Here are two outstanding pictures taken by Josh Golden -

While I have never had one of my photographs published in Marlin Magazine, three years ago my son, who was twelve at the time, took a photograph of a jumping Black Marlin at the same time that Pat Ford did. Pat’s pic was better and made the cover of MM. My son had his picture published inside. I am still trying to achieve that level of accomplishment.

Family Fishing at Casa Vieja over the New Year’s holidays

Family fishing trips can be fun, especially when the fish are biting! I have three boats available at Casa Vieja Lodge in Guatemala, home of “the best sailfish bite in the world,” over this coming New Year’s holidays.

For each paying adult, one child stays and fishes for free. Call me for details, as this will be the most exciting and unusual way to welcome in the New Year. I have taken my children on fishing trips and found that they really appreciate the experience.

For this New Year’s holidays, I will be in Casa Vieja with my wife and children, catching Sailfish, Dorado and taking lots of pictures. Call or email me for details. Flights should be booked right away. This is a perfect family vacation over the winter break holidays. We will also visit Antigua, Guatemala for some history and Mayan culture. The learning never stops.

Every day is a holiday at Casa Vieja Lodge!

The Pacific Blue Marlin migration visits the Pinas Reef in late summer to feed on prolific amounts of bait fish. Be there with me for 6 exciting days of Marlin fishing. There are only two boats left, so call me if you have an interest. Black Marlin, Blue Marlin and Yellow Fin Tuna are highly likely. Rooster Fish and Cubera Snapper are not out of the question. You must visit TSL to experience some of the best bill fishing in the world. Want to fish live bait, conventional tackle? No problem. TSL is known for bridling live tuna and trolling a tasty meal that any hungry marlin can’t pass up. Want to try fly fishing for Sailfish and Marlin? Jake Jordan, one of the masters at fly fishing for bill fish will be with us. When it comes to Marlin fishing, if you want to play with the big boys; you must come to Tropic Star Lodge.
