Hello Austin,

The 2010-11 fishing season is off to an exceptional start!  I fished with a good friend for 5 days on the Run Line: Captain Chris Sheeder and mates Ricardo and Jeffrey.  We were targeting blue marlin on the fly, off the Pacific coast of Guatemala.

Day 1 we warmed up on large sailfish.

Day 2 at 11:30 a red hot blue jumped two teasers and ate the fly.  A spectacular 1 hour fight ensued.  The blue marlin demonstrated why he is the Prince of the Pacific Ocean.  This blue marlin has power and speed.  He has real presence.  All the jumping splashing and aggression ended with a tag and a release.  Captain Chris estimated the weight of the marlin at 325 lbs.

Day 3 produced another hot blue.  My partner achieved a technical release in about 8 minutes as the fish charged the boat and tried to spear the transom..  The fight was crazy good and continued on for 45 minutes..  Chris estimated the size of this fish at 225 lbs.

Marlin MadnessDay 4 allowed us to catch our breath and practice our skills on sailfish.

Day 5 was another burner.  We released a 45 lb blue marlin at mid day.

The little blue must have been hungry as he attacked our largest teaser.  A beautiful lit up blue marlin, this little guy went back into the Pacific Ocean to feed and grow bigger.  Around 2:30 a big hungry blue crashed our spread and hit all four teasers. before eating the fly and the tippet.  This brute, estimated at over 400 lbs stormed off pulling line and pushing water for about 30 seconds, biting through the tippet and leaving the fly floating in the frothy foam  This kind of action really gets anglers teased up!

Over 100 sailfish raised in 5 days.  8 blue marlin raised, 4 teased in and 4 ate the fly.  3 blue marlin released!  This was truly an incredible week of fishing.  Credit goes to the captain, Chris Sheeder who runs the boat so well.  The mates; Jeffrey and Ricardo are truly some of the best professionals in the business.  We laughed, we celebrated and we are returning for more action.  Are you ready to try your skills with a blue marlin?  The Prince of the Pacific?
